What is the Utsunomiya / Takasaki Line Green Car?

The Utsunomiya Line (Tohoku Main Line) and Takasaki Line feature the same double-decker Green Cars found on the Chuo and Tokaido Lines. Through the Ueno-Tokyo Line, these trains run directly from Tokyo Station and Shinagawa Station, giving you seamless access to the mountains of northern Kanto.

These lines are your gateway to Nikko and Mt. Akagi — areas that offer serious mountain experiences surprisingly close to Tokyo.

  • 🍂 Mt. Akagi hikers (Mt. Kurobi, Mt. Komagatake)
